- The wide range of courses offered through 29 different programs draw students from all over the world. For example, a student relocated from Israel to begin his studies in the Advanced Farrier Science program this term.
- Olds College has a long and successful history of international initiatives and has partnered with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) on projects in Bangladesh, Vietnam, China and Kazakhstan / Kyrgyz Republic.
- Olds College is actively involved in a variety of research projects through the Olds College School of Innovation, which creates increased opportunities for research and scientific training for students. Research is being conducted in state-of-the-art facilities which includes five labs, three separate research facilities across campus (tissue culture facility and greenhouse, crop processing centre, and compost technology centre).
- Olds College offers unique programming and resources for students, among them the first rodeo credit course in Canada and an applied degree with a Golf Course Management major which is unique in the country.
- Olds College students and graduates achieve prominence in their careers. Some examples: Fashion Production graduate Cheri Milaney has designed gowns for clients throughout the world. John Faber, a fourth-year student in the BASc-Horticulture (Golf Course Management major), recently won the Canadian Golf Superintendent’s Association “Future Superintendent” Award. The newest, youngest and first female President of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association, Cherilyn Jolly, is an Olds College graduate. The late Jack Horner, long-time Alberta MP and influential federal cabinet minister, was an Olds College graduate.

Safety is a priority at Olds College. Olds
College is the only post-secondary institution in
Alberta to achieve and maintain a Certificate of Recognition
for excellence in occupational health and safety. Security
measures include:
- Full-time staff members provide 24 hour campus security, including hourly monitoring across campus.
- Olds College has a direct telephone link to the Olds RCMP detachment.
- Olds College participates in the community program “Citizens on Patrol” and is investigating a “Students on Patrol” program for the campus.
- A new code of conduct involving increased discipline processes for infractions has been established.
