Biodiesel produced on campus is being tested in vehicles operated by regional partners and Olds College.
The Biodiesel Program will coordinate, monitor, evaluate, advise and make recommendations with respect to renewable energy to achieve the CLC outcomes:
- promote environmental sustainability
- promote innovative education for all learners
The Biodiesel Program will work in collaboration with CESD, Olds College, the Town of Olds, Mountain View County and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include:
- recommending a definition of environmental sustainability
- promoting the sustainability goals:
- Innovative Education
- Healthy physical environment
- Linkage between community and education
- Protection of the environment
- Cost effectiveness over the life of the building
- identifying current opportunities for applied research integrations which
may include but are not limited to:
- biodiesel production and utilization
- utilization of the byproducts of biodiesel production
- biogas production from organic waste and utilization
